Summary

Vanesa de la Cruz Pavas is a Science Communication Specialist for the at the Reynolds School of Journalism. Originally from Medellin, Colombia, Vanesa is a science and environmental journalist with a focus on science communication, environmental reporting, and women's rights in the context of science and climate change. 

During her MA in Media Innovation at the Reynolds School of Journalism, Vanesa created a on climate injustice and vulnerability in Colombia, Panama, and the United States. 

Before joining the Hitchcock Project, Vanesa worked for over two years as the science journalist for the national newspaper El Colombiano in Colombia. She has also earned a diploma in Environmental Reporting, was the first runner-up in the 2022 Aqualia Journalism Award in Spain for an article on water-related issues and has been awarded three exchange opportunities by the U.S. Department of State. 

Vanesa is passionate about demystifying complex scientific topics and her work aims to create platforms that help communities share their climate and science stories in engaging, multimedia formats.
